Ranch History and General Information

Williamson Cattle Company is a family owned and operated agricultural business located in Okeechobee, Florida. In 1941 Frank Williamson Sr. moved from Pinellas Country, Florida, to Okeechobee in order to manage the Dixie Cattleman’s Association. In the late 1940’s the land was broken up and Frank Sr. was able to acquire the land that is now home to the Williamson Cattle Company.

The ranch is a cow calf operation comprised of three locations in south Florida and one location in Alabama. The home ranch in Okeechobee sustains approximately 3,000 commercial Brangus cow-calf pairs and yearlings. An additional 5,000 pairs are managed on the two leases, while the property in Alabama maintains approximately 1,000 pairs and yearlings. The cow herd is primarily Brangus crossed cattle with the bull battery being entirely Angus and Brangus. Bulls are selected for superior carcass and growth characteristics. Nearly all replacement heifers come from the Okeechobee ranch location where 30 years of selection pressure has been enforced on the herd.

Both economic and environmental viability are essential for any agricultural business to be sustainable. Williamson Cattle Company is proud to have been awarded the 2004 National Cattleman’s Beef Association Environmental Stewardship Award. The ranch was the first east of the Mississippi River to win this prestigious award.

Shipping Dates

Florida calves are born from October through February while Alabama calves are born from February through April. Calves are shipped July through August. All calves from the Okeechobee location qualify as “All Natural” with no use of antibiotics, hormones, or ionophores.
